1Sunbasket Herb Blend
1Tomato Paste
1Diced Tomatoes
1Fresh Ricotta
1Parmesan

Hi, Angels Working on Earth Family,

I’m so excited to share a dish from Sunbasket! The recipe is ” Penne with your choice of protein, tomato-olive sauce, and fresh ricotta.” The box arrived with all the ingredients listed in the chart. Today, I am testing the recipe for its flavor. I enjoy experimenting and making changes, so I divided the ingredients into four main and four optional ones. You may, of course, include all the ingredients as its included in the recipe. The onions, parmesan, olives, and ricotta are options. The main ingredient is (1) Penne, which gives the dish texture and bites. (2) The protein is ground turkey because I didn’t want anything heavy. You may use any protein that suits your tastes. (3) The Sunbasket garlic–herb season blend is a perfect seasoning for the dish. The blend was made from garlic, onion powder, dried thyme, and oregano. (4) Lastly, tomato sauce.

The Penne in the box is regular store-bought pasta. I bought and tested whole-grain pasta. I found the flavor of the whole-grain pasta to be slightly richer and a bit firmer. The whole grain pasta contains more fiber, which improves digestion. However, I decided to use the Sunbasket penne to be true to the dish. The whole grain penne isn’t to my taste in this dish, but I will use it for another.

The ingredients arrived fresh and well-boxed. All I need to do is unpack and get started. The directions are easy to follow, and use teaching techniques through culinary words and ensure you have all the ingredients and tools.

It took me about 40 minutes to cook the dish. You may read the directions beforehand to save even more time. I enjoy eating Sun basket meals, which are usually organic and taste delicious.

I recommend this recipe. The Sunbasket seasonings are excellent, the protein is fresh, and the texture of the penne is great! Add olives, ricotta, parmesan, and onions if you want a more robust taste. If you enjoy whole-grain pasta, then include it in this recipe. I think all the ingredients are necessary, but if you don’t like a particular ingredient, experiment or substitute. Since the dish needed more flavor, I decided to include the options.

Please let me know what you think.

Cook the penne

Bring salted water to a boil. Add the penne rigate and cook until tender, 10 to 12 minutes. Return the penne to the pot, and toss it with olive oil to keep the penne from sticking.

Prep the seasonings

Put the seasonings in a bowl.

Cook the protein

In a large frying pan over medium-high heat, warm 1 to 2 tablespoons oil until hot but not smoking. Add the seasoning, stirring occasionally. Add the ground turkey, stirring to break up the meat, for 3-4 minutes until cooked. Add the tomato sauce, stirring and breaking up the meat. Add the penne.
• Optional, prep the onions in step two. Add the onions at the start of step three.
• Optional, add olives and ricotta before the penne in step three.

MISE EN PLACE
